PMI Journal welcomes new associate editor Frederik Boëtius Hertz

Journal of Pathology, Microbiology, and Immunology welcomes Frederik Boëtius Hertz as new associate editor.

Frederik Boetius Hertz is an Associate Professor at the Department of Immunology and Microbiology, University of Copenhagen, and a Consultant in Clinical Microbiology at Rigshospitalet. He specializes in clinical microbiology, antibiotic treatment and antimicrobial resistance, with a research focus on antibiotic stewardship, resistance mechanisms, and epidemiology of hospital-acquired infections and AMR. His work bridges laboratory diagnostics with clinical practice, in vitro laboratory models, aiming to advance therapeutic strategies against drug-resistant pathogens and improve surveillance of infectious disease outbreaks.

Areas of Expertise and Interests

  • Clinical Microbiology: Expertise in bacteriology, antibiotic resistance, antibiotic treatment and laboratory diagnostics.
  • Infectious Diseases: Research covers urinary tract infections, pneumonia and respiratory infections, multidrug resistant isolates, neonatal and pediatrics, ears-nose and throat, ophthalmology.
  • Antibiotic Stewardship: Focus on rational consumption of antibiotics, antibiotic selection pressure, drug-resistant pathogens, and the epidemiology of antimicrobial resistance.
