Journal of Pathology, Microbiology and Immunology (PMI) calls for submissions to its 2026 Focus Issue on artificial intelligence in pathology
The Journal of Pathology, Microbiology and Immunology (PMI) is pleased to announce an upcoming Focus Issue in 2026 dedicated to the transformative role of artificial intelligence (AI) in pathology. Researchers, clinicians, and experts in the field are invited to contribute original research articles as well as comprehensive review papers that highlight the innovative use of AI across diagnostic anatomic pathology, clinical pathology, and forensic pathology.
This Focus Issue aims not only to showcase technological innovations, but also to critically examine their practical clinical value, ethical implications, and the challenges that lie ahead. Submissions may cover, but are not limited to, the following themes:

The integration of AI in resolving specific diagnostic challenges in pathology.

Original investigations demonstrating the clinical utility and impact of AI-driven approaches.

Critical analyses and systematic reviews assessing the strengths, limitations, and future challenges of implementing AI in pathology.
