The Journal of Pathology, Microbiology and Immunology (PMI Journal) is pleased to announce the launch of the annual PMI Award, recognizing excellence and innovation in the fields of pathology, microbiology and immunology. 

Founded more than a century ago, PMI Journal is an international, peer-reviewed, non-commercial journal. With a strong tradition of fostering multidisciplinary science, PMI serves as a platform for researchers across Scandinavia and worldwide, promoting rigorous scholarship and cross-disciplinary collaboration. 

The award aims to support and highlight early career scientists and rising talents who demonstrate outstanding scientific contributions and a strong potential for future impact within the multidisciplinary scope of PMI.

Award 

• One prize will be awarded annually. 

• The award carries a monetary value of EUR 3,500. 

• The winner will be announced by April 2026 at the PMI Journal website and social media. The winner will be featured in a profile article published on the PMI website and social media. 

• Name of nominator and nominating society will be published with the announcement of the winner. 
  

Eligibility and criteria 

• Nomination: Candidates may be nominated by PMI member societies. 

• Eligibility: Early career scientists are particularly encouraged to apply. 

• Selection criteria include originality, scientific quality, multidisciplinary relevance and potential impact of the applicant’s contributions. 

Application process 

• Applications should be submitted via the online application form available at www.pmijournal.org. 

• Required documents include: 

• A nomination letter including summary of key scientific contributions (max. 1 page) 

• A brief CV (max. 2 pages) 

• Publication list. 
  

Timeline 

• Call opens: January 2026 

• Application deadline: 15 March 2026
